So, you started with a dream, a passion to make something great. In the beginning, it was just you, nurturing this little seed of an idea. You watered it, gave it sunlight, and loved it hard. But now, that tiny seed has grown. It's bigger, wilder, and, let's be honest, a bit overwhelming. Sound familiar?
If you're nodding along, great!
I’m here to remind you, that you are only one person with two hands. There comes a point when you realize that maybe, just maybe, you need a bit of help.
Choosing Your Fellow Builders/Nurturers
This is where you start picking out fellow builders/nurturers to build your empire or water your garden. You get the analogy yes?
You start to understand that letting them take over doesn't mean losing your dream; it means seeing it thrive in ways you couldn't achieve alone.
You are not saying, "Hey, build here," and walking away. It’s showing them the blueprint of your dream and trusting them to add their touch to it.
You’re still the one overseeing it all, making sure all your “plans“ align, but now you have the freedom to plan even bigger dreams.
Letting Go to Let It Grow
Once you've got your team, your next move is to trust them. I mean, really trust them. Give them the tools, show them where the resources are, and let them get to it.
This isn't about dumping work on others; it's about empowering them and letting their passions fuel the growth of your business, project, or program, whatever it may be.
And yes, theirs might look a bit different than you imagined, but that’s the beauty of it. Each new builder brings his or her own magic.
For a while, you might just watch, nervously biting your nails, hoping this empire doesn’t crumble. But then, you see it. The castles are standing tall, the moles are managed, and the perimeter is guarded.
Your colleagues are laughing, invested, and proud. The dream is alive, buzzing with creativity and collaboration.
The Inner Work Before the Outer Expansion
Before you get to this stage, you might need to do some tidying up. Maybe smooth out the edges, organize the tools, or even learn a few new techniques and skills yourself. This preparation phase is crucial. It ensures that when you do invite your team in, they’re stepping into a space where they can truly contribute.
This stage might seem slow, maybe even a bit lonely, as you work on the fundamentals. But it’s the foundation for everything that follows. It’s what transforms your idea from a one-person show into a community project.
Good luck dreaming it into reality!
